So today a psychologist said something to me.

He said that the majority of people live within a box, and that’s their entire reality. All they see is the inside of the box, and they’re ‘asleep’ to anything else. People that have suffered from some form of mental illness are ‘awake’, because they’ve seen reality outside the box. He said no matter how hard people try to put that person back into the box, they will never fit, because they’ve seen something beyond it all.

wow.

Love.

kimmismiles:

I get questioned about love and long distance all the time. How can I be so sure such a risk is worth it, why am I so positive and have such strong feelings about it?

I’ll tell you the story of my parents.

My father is from Switzerland, but he has this job that takes him all over the world. My father has some sort of business that I don’t really understand, where he takes pictures of planes and sells them on the internet. Apparently people like to buy little pictures of planes. Don’t know why they do or what they do with them, but it’s supporting our family, so I’m not going to question it. Anyway, one day my father was in Fiji, he had been at the airport taking pictures of the planes. After he had finished up his work, he caught a cab to get back to his hotel. Little did he know that the cab driver was to become his father-in-law and my grandfather. They were driving along, listening to the radio when suddenly they got word that a strong hurricane was coming in. They were too far from my father’s hotel, so my grandfather offered to take my father back to his house to ride out the storm. They got to my grandfather’s house and there was my mother, sitting in the corner of the room with my grandmother. It was love at first sight.
The hurricane passed and my mother and father decided to stay in contact. He spent the rest of his days in Fiji with her and they fell deep in love. Even though my dad was from Switzerland and my mother lived in Fiji, they wanted to keep their relationship going. They lived just over 10,000 miles from one another.

They had no phone and obviously no online chat or skype type thing to keep in contact and talk everyday, like we all have now. My parents kept in contact by writing letters to each other. Now, back in those days, letters took A LOT longer to reach their destination than they do now, especially going over seas. But they kept it up and sent countless letters to one another. Even though they never spoke and did not see each other for SUCH a long time, they were still deep in love and those feelings never changed. My father proposed to my mother in a letter and she sent back her answer in a letter. Imagine being in my father’s shoes and how crazy it would drive you waiting for a letter like that.

Despite how far away they were from one another, despite the fact that they couldn’t see each other or simply speak to one another, they stayed together. Their love for one another was so strong, that it didn’t let anything get in the way of it.

They’ve been married for 35 years and counting.

You see, I don’t think you’ll hear many love stories like that anymore. So many people are breaking up, getting divorced, it makes you wonder if love exists anymore. But I grew up surrounded in the love my parents had for one another and me. So I believe in love and I believe that no matter how hard anything gets in a relationship, if you love someone, you’ll get through it. Love is a strong force, stronger than anything else. It can withstand any challenge thrown it’s way.

If you are lucky enough to find love, remember that it is very rare. Never give up on it.

So yeah, I guess you can see why I’m so intense when it comes to love.

I hope that wasn’t too long to read and thank you if you did.
